Here are some phone apps I find them extremely helpful and reliable while I was overseas, whether it is for exploring city, finding directions / accommodations or booking flights. While smartphone should not be the primary source of information but in certain cases you need these phone apps for travelling!

Trip Advisor City Guide
- The easiest way to briefly know a place. Instead of flipping through travel guides back and forth, I have Trip Advisor or other city guides applications on my phone. It shows me the history and locations of attractions, suggests itinerary on map (turn on GPS and it will guide you), top ranked restaurants nearby; with millions of reviews and photos. You can sign in to save your own trip journal / bookmark places. I use it mainly for attraction info however it is also great for searching accommodation and transport info. How convenient!

Triposo Travel Guide
- I have not really used Triposo for travelling as I was just introduced to it recently. Anyway it has really great functions! As convenient as Trip Advisor with beautiful UI, and for offline use as well.

- I cache the offline maps for places I wanted to go. Then, turn on the GPS and it points me the directions! No internet connection needed!

- I downloaded offline language packages before I set off. Most of the time body language settles everything but in some occasions, translator is still what you need!

Booking.com or AirBnB or HostelWorld
- Book a place to stay in 2 mins! Hotel or hostel, you will definitely find something!
Flight Information
- Skyscanner
- I’m sure most of you know about this but in case you have not, Skyscanner is a powerful search engine for flights, from everywhere to everywhere! This is how I booked my flights from Amsterdam to Berlin just 2 days before departure, and then later Berlin to Cologne.
Other Great Apps

Google Plus
- It offers 15GB of cloud storage, which you can use it to auto sync your photos / videos / other files to the cloud when connected to wifi. What an easy way to backup your data!

Android Device Manager
- It locates your phone and helps to protect the data inside it. If unfortunately you lost your phone, it can be used to track your phone or in the worst scenario, use it to erase all data on the phone.
