We talk about building your personal brand in previous post. No professional profile is complete without a handy resume (whether you are hunting a job or not), keep in mind that resume should also demonstrate your brand, make sure your message is consistent across.
Okay there are already tonnes of other websites sharing tips on resume writing, you don’t need another one here. But if you still have no idea, here are some tips consolidated from various pages:
- Customize resume according to each job application
- Simply because you need to highlight different skillsets or achievements based on what are required by the job that you are applying to
- And you might want to use different styles for different industries (for example a more creative resume for a UX designer role, or a more traditional one for job in a bank)

- Use Google formula: Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y] by doing [Z]
- This is so important! Quantify your achievement and tell a short story about it (how did you achieve that?) in one sentence, this is the key to get your resume stand out from the crowd!
- Avoid buzzwords
- Whether on your LinkedIn profile or resume, avoid those overused buzzwords (just google what are the buzzwords of the year to avoid)
- Make it short, simple and outstanding
- According to one famous study, recruiters only take an average of six seconds to decide whether to keep or trash your resume
- Get people to proof-read and review your resume
- We might not see the mistakes that we make on resume, and you don’t want to be filtered out just because of that one typo
